dc.description.abstract	วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ มุ่งเน้นศึกษาถึงขบวนการปรับนโยบายต่างประเทศไทยต่อสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีนในช่วงปี 1969-1973 ซึ่งอยู่ในช่วงการบริหารประเทศของรัฐบาล จอมพลถนอม กิตติขจร (1964-1973) ทั้งนี้จะเน้นศึกษาปัจจัยที่เป็นสาเหตุผลักดันให้นำไทยทำการปรับนโยบาย โดยจะใช้ทฤษฎีความเกี่ยวพัน (Linkage Theory) เป็นกรอบในการวิเคราะห์ ผลการวิจัยปรากฏว่า การที่สหรัฐอเมริกาประกาศลัทธินิกสัน เมื่อปี 1969 พร้อมกับแสดงเจตนารมณ์ที่จะลดบทบาทของตนในภูมิภาคเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้และการปรับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสหรัฐฯ กับสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีนในปี 1972 เป็นปัจจัยภายนอกที่เป็นตัวกระตุ้นในกระบวนการปรับนโยบายต่างประเทศไทยต่อสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีนในช่วงดังกล่าว โดยพบว่า ผู้นำฝ่ายพลเรือนโดยเฉพาะ มีความเคลื่อนไหวในความพยายามที่จะปรับความสัมพันธ์กับสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน แต่ผู้นำฝ่ายทหาร ซึ่งมีอำนาจชี้ขาดในขณะนั้น ยังคงมีความหวาดระแวงในสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน และต้องการดำเนินนโยบาย “รอดูไปก่อน” กับประเทศดังกล่าว ฉะนั้น การปรับนโยบายต่างประเทศไทยต่อสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน จึงมีขึ้นในขอบเขตที่จำกัด โดยมี ปฏิสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกันทางด้านกีฬา การค้า และด้านวัฒนธรรมอื่นๆ เท่านั้น และความสัมพันธ์ทางด้านการเมือง ยังคงไม่ได้รับการพัฒนาแต่อย่างใด	-
dc.description.abstractalternative	This thesis is a study of the process of adaptation of Thailand's policy towards the People's Republic of China (PRC) in the period between 1969 and 1973, which was the period of Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn's premiership, focusing on the factors explaining Thailand's policy and using linkage theory as the analytical framework. It was found that the Nixon doctrine, which expressed the United States's intention of reducing its commitments in-Southeast Asia, and the Sino-American rapprochment were the external factors which catalysed the adaptation of Thailand's policy towards the PRC and that civilian leaders in particular were keen to improve relations with the latter. However, it was also found that Thailand's military leaders, who had the decisive power in that period, were still suspicious of the PRC and only wished to have a "Wait-and-See" policy. Therefore, the policy adaptation was very limited, the interactions between Thailand and the PRC being confined to sports, culture and trade.	-
