dc.description.abstract	วิทยานิพนธ์นี้ เป็นการค้นคว้าวิจัยเรื่อง “จักกวาฬทีปนี กัณฑ์ที่ 4” ต่อเนื่องจากนายสดุภณ จังกาจิตต์ ผู้วิจัยคนก่อน ที่ได้ค้นคว้าวิจัยไว้แล้วในกัณฑ์ที่ 1,2 และ 3 โดยผู้วิจัยรวบรวมต้นฉบับตัวเขียนทั้งอักษรไทยลานนา อักษรขอม และฉบับของมูลนิธิภูมิพโลภิกขุ จำนวน 21 ฉบับ นำมาตรวจสอบชำระและศึกษาเชิงวิเคราะห์ พร้อมทั้งเขียนอักษรและแปลเป็นไทย เพื่อให้ได้ฉบับภาษาบาลีที่ถูกต้องและใกล้เคียงกับฉบับเดิมพระสิริมังคลาจารย์พระภิกษุไทยในอาณาจักรลานนา ผู้เป็นปราชญ์ทางภาษาบาลี ที่ได้รจนาเรื่องนี้ไว้เมื่อ พ.ศ. 2063 โดยท่านผู้รจนาได้อาศัยเรื่องราวต่างๆ ที่ปรากฏอยู่ในพระไตรปิฎกอรรถกถา ฎีกา ตลอดจนปกรณ์ทั้งหลายที่กล่าวถึงเรื่องราวของจักรวาลมาเป็นหลักในการรจนา เนื้อหาของวิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ แบบ่งออกเป็น 5 บท คือ บทที่ 1 เป็นบทนำ กล่าวถึงความเป็นมาและความสำคัญของปัญหา วัตถุประสงค์ ของเขต และวิธีดำเนินการวิจัยสาเหตุแห่งการรจนาเรื่องนี้ด้วยภาษาบาลี ชีวประวัติของท่านผู้รจนาโดยสังเขป เนื้อเรื่องย่อลักษณะของต้นฉบับตัวเขียนที่นำมาสอบชำระ ข้อบกพร่องและลักษณะพิเศษในการจาร, สำนวนนิยม, การเลือกใช้คำ ไวยากรณ์ของภาษา และประโยชน์ที่จะได้รับจากการวิจัย บทที่ 2 เป็นคัมภีร์ภาษาบาลี เรื่อง “จักกวาฬทีปนี กัณฑ์ที่ 4” ที่สอบชำระแล้ว บทที่ 3 เป็นคำและข้อความที่ผิดเพี้ยนออกไปจากฉบับชำระแล้ว บทที่ 4 เป็นคำแปลพากย์ภาษาไทยเรื่อง “จักกวาฬทีปนี กันณฑ์ที่ 4” และบทที่ 5 เป็นบทสรุปและข้อเสนอแนะ ส่วนภาคผนวกเป็นนามาภิธาน คือรายชื่อเฉพาะต่างๆ ที่ปรากฏในกัณฑ์ที่ 4 ทั้งหมด
dc.description.abstractalternative	This thesis is an outcome of a research work on Cakkavāladīpanī Chapter IV and may be regarded as a continuation of a former research work previously undertaken by Mr. Sadubhon Changkachitt on chapters I to III of this Pali text. Five manuscripts in Thai Lanna characters, and sixteen others in Khom characters are employed in the present edition of the text. This edition, the researcher hopes, should be reasonably close to the original work composed in about A. D. 1520 by Phra Sirimangalācariya, a Thai monk whose knowledge of Pali is well recognized all over the country. This Cakkavāladīpanī is based on available source material especially the Pali Tipitaka, commentaries and sub-commentaries. This thesis is divided into 5 chapters. The first is introductory, discussing the problem leading to this research, the purpose and the scope thereof. It further gives description of the manuscripts studied by the present researcher with an essay on the Pali idioms and the special features of the Pali language of this particular text. Scribal errors and calligraphy are also given in this chapter. The second is an edition of the text. The third chapter is the variant readings. The translation of the edited text of Cakkavāladīpanī Chapter IV follows in the fourth chapter of the thesis. The fifth offers conclusion and suggestion for future research. A list of proper names from Cakkavāladīpanī Chapter IV is given in the appendix.
