Usability test is an evaluation method to identify error and user experiences from their design. The ease of human-computer interaction were quantitatively measured and illustrated problems with its severity. In order to improve the quality of mobile application, usability test, the effective technique for product evaluation was focused in this research. Without usability test, the application would have a complexity. In this study, five usability attributes of learnability, efficiency, effectiveness, memorability, and satisfaction were used regarding to Nielson and ISO 9241-11. This research was to evaluate usability of mobile map application for improve user interface. Comparative usability test was performed on map application by using NOSTRA map and Google maps. Ten tasks were set as scenario for five participants to complete usability test and used in the analysis. The suggestions for UI improvement were implement on new version of NOSTRA map application, which was used for the improvement validation in this study. The results showed that several usability issues such as difficulty of use or complex design were found. Most of the problems founded in this study are related to the design of icons and their location in apps which were inappropriately presented. The redesign of icons and change their location on screen should be considered to improve its usability. The new version of NOSTRA map revealed the highest satisfaction scores of five participants among NOSTRA map previous version. The result of the task2 shows the more learnability and effectiveness than the previous version. Moreover, the task 2, 3, 5, 8, and 10 are more efficient. Additionally, the task6 shows high memorability.
