| dc.description.abstractalternative | This article focuses on the claim for academic standing of college and university librarians. Reviews the academic status of librarian in Thai universities in the past and notes the first movement for teaching library sciences at Chulalongkorn University in B.E. 2494. The major change in personnel administration of university staff was occurred when there was the announcement of new Civil Servant Act in B.E. 2518. Details the effects of the Position Classification on academic status of civil servants in the universities, especially on academic status of librarians at present. Describes and compares standards for faculty status for college and university librarians in the United States, Great Britain, Canada and Australia. Gives concluding remarks and gives suggestions for the consideration of academic standing of college and university librarian in Thailand. | en |
