dc.description.abstract	วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องการสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของคนมอญย้ายถิ่น: ศึกษากรณีแรงงานข้ามชาติในจังหวัดสมุทรสาคร มี วัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาถึงวิถีชีวิต และการสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของคนมอญย้ายถิ่นในจังหวัดสมุทรสาคร ผลการศึกษาพบว่า การสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของคนมอญย้ายถิ่นที่เป็นแรงงานข้ามชาติในจังหวัดสมุทรสาคร มีการสร้างสำนึกร่วมโดยใช้ ประวัติศาสตร์และการธำรงรักษาภาษา หนังสือ และวัฒนธรรมประเพณีมอญไว้ เพื่อรักษาพรมแดนทางชาติพันธุ์กับ กลุ่มอื่นโดยเฉพาะชนชาติพม่า จนกระทั่งสมัยอาณานิคม เมื่อพม่าได้รับเอกราชจากอังกฤษด้วยเงื่อนไขทางการเมือง ภายใต้แนวคิดรัฐชาติสมัยใหม่ มอญได้สร้างอัตลักษณ์ใหม่ที่เป็นอัตลักษณ์เชิงการเมือง ซึ่งสื่อถึงการแยกตัวและแตกหัก กับรัฐพม่า โดยสร้างสำนึกเรื่องชาติผ่านการมีประวัติศาสตร์ และสัญลักษณ์ร่วมกัน เช่น วันชาติมอญ ธงชาติมอญ เพลงชาติมอญ ชุดประจำชาติ สัตว์สัญลักษณ์ (หงส์) เมื่อเข้าสู่ภาวะทุนนิยมโลกาภิวัฒน์ ทำให้กลุ่มชาติพันธุ์มอญจาก ประเทศพม่ากลายเป็นผู้อพยพและอยู่ในฐานะแรงงานงานข้ามชาติในจังหวัดสมุทรสาคร คนมอญย้ายถิ่นได้ซ่อน อัตลักษณ์ความเป็นพม่า และเลือกแสดงอัตลักษณ์ความเป็นมอญให้เด่นชัดขึ้น เพื่อสร้างการยอมรับและประนีประนอม กับสังคมไทย โดยเลือกแสดงอัตลักษณ์ความเป็นมอญผ่านภาษา วัฒนธรรมประเพณี และการจัดงานวันชาติมอญ หรือ วันรำลึกบรรพบุรุษมอญ เป็นอัตลักษณ์ที่สร้างขึ้นบนพื้นฐานความสัมพันธ์กับกลุ่มคนไทยเชื้อสายมอญ ในฐานะผู้อพยพ คนมอญย้ายถิ่นได้สร้างสังคมข้ามพรมแดนพาดผ่านพรมแดนรัฐชาติไทยโดยการสร้างสายสัมพันธ์กับคนมอญในเมือง มอญ คนมอญในเมืองไทยและคนมอญในต่างประเทศ กิจกรรมสายสัมพันธ์ที่เกิดขึ้นครอบคลุมทั้งทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ การเมือง และสังคมวัฒนธรรม โดยที่คนมอญย้ายถิ่นมีสำนึกอยู่เสมอว่ามาตุภูมิของตัวเองนั้นอยู่ที่เมืองมอญ จึงนิยาม ตัวเองว่าเป็น "มอญเมืองมอญ" มากกว่าเป็น "คนพม่า"	en
dc.description.abstractalternative	The objective of the thesis is to study the way of life and identity formation of Mon migrants who are transnational workers in Samutsakhon province. The study concludes that the identity formation of Mon migrant before migration to Samutsakhon province involves ethnic collective consciousness to maintain their ethnic boundaries and separate themselves from Burma national identity. Since colonial era to after independence when Burma became a modern state, the Mons formed new political identity to break away from Burma nation. With globalization, the Mons from Burma migrated to Samutsakhon province, Thailand. The Mons became transnational workers, who have to hide their Burmese identity and choose to show their Mon identity to compromise with Thai society. The Mon identity is being represented in the form of language, literature and culture. The celebration of Mon National Day in Thailand is an attempt to maintain Mon ethnic identity and to identify with Thai-Mon descendents in Thailand. Mon migrants are building transnational social relations with Mon in Burma, Mon in Thailand and Oversea Mon through political, economic and cultural activities. The Mon migrants identity is with their Mon homeland or Mon Land, not citizen of Burma.	en
