| Other Abstract: | This article attempts to debate on the conventional roles of the librarians in the community since the library profession realizes periodically that the majority of its professional concerns and preoccupations are irrelevant. It reports on the librarians’ re-examination of their commitments to the community with an attempt to redirecting their services, broadening programs, and in a variety of ways radically altering their conventional roles and methods. The arguments and criticisms of many scholars, i.e. Dawes, Shera, Harvey, and Broadfield, have been examined in pertaining to the involvement of the library in social action of both individual and social groups. |
