| Abstract: | งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาสภาพการใช้วารสารวิชาการภาษาต่างประเทศของสำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ ในด้านปริมาณการใช้ อายุ และประเภทสาขาวิชาของวารสาร เพื่อเป็นแนวทางสำหรับสำนักหอสมุดในการจัดหา จัดเก็บวารสารวิชาการภาษาต่างประเทศให้เหมาะสมยิ่งขึ้น การศึกษาสภาพการใช้วารสารนี้ได้ทำการเก็บข้อมูลการวิจัยจากวารสารในสำนักหอสมุด (ไม่รวมวารสารที่ให้บริการในห้องสมุดสาขา) และเป็นวารสารที่ได้รับโดยการเป็นสมาชิกเสียค่าบอกรับในปัจจุบัน รวมวารสารที่อยู่ในขอบเขตการวิจัย จำนวน 367 ชื่อ ผู้วิจัยได้รวบรวมข้อมูลการใช้วารสารภายในห้องสมุดที่ให้บริการทั้งในระบบชั้นปิดและระบบชั้นเปิด วารสารที่ให้ยืม และวารสารที่ถ่ายเอกสาร ในภาคปลายปีการศึกษา 2527 โดยแบ่งระยะเวลาการวิจัยเป็น 2 ช่วง ช่วงละ 15 วัน ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้ 1.วารสารที่มีการใช้ ในระยะการวิจัยครั้งที่ 1 วารสารที่มีการใช้มีจำนวน 248 ชื่อ รวมความถี่ของการใช้ 4,069 ครั้ง ในระยะการวิจัยครั้งที่ 2 มีจำนวน 216 ชื่อ รวมความถี่ของการใช้ 3,770 ครั้ง สำหรับวารสารที่มีการใช้ในระยะการวิจัยครั้งที่ 1 และครั้งที่ 2 รวมกัน มีจำนวน 290 ชื่อ คิดเป็นร้อยละ 79.02 ของวารสารที่อยู่ในขอบเขตการวิจัย รวมจำนวนความถี่ของการใช้ทั้งหมด 7,839 ครั้ง 2. ความสัมพันธ์ของวารสารที่มีความถี่ของการใช้มาก 30 ชื่อแรก ในระยะการวิจัยทั้ง 2 ครั้ง พบว่า มีค่าสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ 0.21 แสดงถึงการมีความสัมพันธ์กันต่ำมาก 3. วารสารที่มีการใช้และจำนวนความถี่ของการใช้มากรวมกันถึงร้อยละ 80 ของการใช้ทั้งหมด พบว่า ในระยะการวิจัยครั้งที่ 1 วารสารที่มีความถี่ของการใช้มากรวมกันถึงร้อยละ 80.34 ของความถี่ของการใช้ทั้งหมด มีจำนวน 64 ชื่อแรก คิดเป็นร้อยละ 17.44 ของวารสารในขอบเขตการวิจัย ในระยะการวิจัยครั้งที่ 2 วารสารที่มีความถี่ของการใช้มากรวมกันถึงร้อยละ 80.08 มีจำนวน 62 ชื่อแรก คิดเป็นร้อยละ 16.89 ของวารสารในขอบเขตการวิจัย และเมื่อรวมการวิจัยทั้ง 2 ครั้ง เข้าด้วยกัน พบว่า วารสารที่มีความถี่ของการใช้มากรวมกันถึงร้อยละ 80.25 ของความถี่ของการใช้ทั้งหมด เป็นวารสารจำนวน 76 ชื่อแรก คิดเป็นร้อยละ 20.71 ของวารสารที่อยู่ในขอบเขตการวิจัย 4. อายุของวารสารที่มีการใช้ พบว่า วารสารที่มีการใช้มากที่สุดเป็นวารสารที่มีอายุระหว่าง 0-5 ปี (ปีพิมพ์ ค.ศ.1984-1979) รวมอายุได้ 6 ปี 5. ประเภทสาขาวิชาของวารสาร พบว่า วารสารที่มีการใช้มากที่สุด คือ วารสารประเภทสาขาวิชาเกษตร จากผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้ ทำให้สำนักหอสมุด มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ ทราบถึงสภาพการใช้วารสารวิชาการภาษาต่างประเทศ และสามารถใช้เป็นข้อมูลเบื้องต้นเพื่อประกอบการพิจารณาการคัดเลือก และจัดหาวารสาร นอกจากนี้ ยังใช้เป็นข้อมูลเบื้องต้นเพื่อวางแผนการจัดเก็บรักษาวารสารให้เหมาะสมในแง่ปริมาณการใช้ และเนื้อที่จัดเก็บอีกด้วย ข้อเสนอแนะสำหรับการวิจัยครั้งต่อไป ควรทำการวิจัยในลักษณะเดียวกันนี้กับห้องสมุดสาขา ควรเพิ่มเวลาการจัดเก็บข้อมูลการใช้วารสารให้นานขึ้น เพื่อให้ได้ข้อมูลที่ใช้ประกอบการตัดสินใจดำเนินการเกี่ยวกับวารสารได้สมบูรณ์ยิ่งขึ้น |
| Other Abstract: | The purpose of this research was to study the use of foreign language journals at Kasetsart University Main Library in the following aspects: the frequency use, the publication date and the subject fields of the used journals. Results from the research can be used as guideline information for the Main Library in considering more effectively the acquisition policy and the appropriate storage of the Periodicals Section. Journals selected as samples of this study were 367 currently subscribed titles (excluded those available at the branch libraries). Data was collected through the internal use of journals stored at both the open and the closed shelves, through their circulation and their photocopying. The research was conducted during the second semester of 1984 for two consecutive periods of fifteen days each. Findings revealed that 1) for that first period of study, 248 titles (67.57%) were used for 4,069 times while 216 titles (58.86%) were used for 3,770 times for the second research period and 290 titles (79.02%) were used in both periods. 2) the first 30 titles of the most frequently used journals from both periods were used for a Spearman Rank-Order Correlation Coefficient. The Coefficient obtained was 0.21 which meant that the correlation between the most frequently used journals was significantly low, 3) the most frequently used journals which frequency 80.34% in the first period accounted for 17.44% of the samples and the most frequently used journals which frequency 80.08% in the second period accounted for 16.89% of the samples. For both periods, the most frequently used journals which frequency 80.25% accounted for 20.71% of the samples, 4) the most used journals were the ones published within the last 6 years (1984-1979), 5) the subject field of the most used journals was agriculture. The Main Library of Kasetsart University should take the findings of this thesis as the basic data in considering the selection and acquisition policies. In addition, research result can be used in the appropriate storage of journals according to their use and the storage area. For further studies, a replication of this research is needed to be conducted at the branch libraries and longer time of data collection is needed, thus the result from this research can be convinced. |
