dc.description.abstractวิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายที่จะศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงของภาษาไทยสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ โดยแบ่งสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ออกเป็น 2 ระยะ คือ สมัยก่อน นับตั้งแต่สมัยรัชกาล ที่ 1 ถึงรัชกาลที่ 6 และสมัยปัจจุบัน นับตั้งแต่สมัยรัชกาลที่ 7 ลงมาถึงปัจจุบัน ผลของการวิจัยนี้แสดงให้เห็นว่า ภาษา 2 ระยะนี้ มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงไป 3 ประการ คือ ประการแรกได้แก่ความหมายของคำ คำบางคำมีรูปเหมือนกันทั้งในภาษาสมัยก่อนและสมัยปัจจุบัน แต่ใช้ในความหมายทั้งที่เหมือนและแตกต่างกัน คำบางคำใช้ในความหมายเหมือนกันทั้งในภาษาสมัยก่อนและสมัยปัจจุบัน แต่มีรูปต่างกัน คำบางคำมีใช้ในภาษาสมัยก่อนแต่ปัจจุบันไม่มีใช้ในภาษาที่เป็นธรรมดาสามัญ หรือมีใช้เฉพาะในภาษาถิ่น โดยมีความหมายคล้ายกันหรือเหมือนกันกับที่ใช้ในสมัยก่อน นอกจากนั้น การใช้คำบางคำในหมวดคำบุพบทและลักษณนามในภาษาสมัยก่อน ยังแตกต่างกับสมัยปัจจุบันด้วย ประการที่สองได้แก่สำนวนที่ใช้ในสมัยก่อน จะเห็นได้ว่า บางสำนวนยังคงมีใช้อยู่ในปัจจุบัน แต่มีบางส่วนเปลี่ยนแปลงไปในด้านถ้อยคำหรือความหมาย บางสำนวนไม่มีที่ใช้เลยในสมัยปัจจุบัน ประการที่สามได้แก่ลำดับของคำที่แตกต่างกันในภาษา 2 ระยะนั้น ซึ่งมีส่วนทำให้เห็นความเปลี่ยนแปลงของภาษาได้อย่างชัดเจน การเสนอผลการวิจัยครั้งนี้ แบ่งออกเป็น 5 ตอน คือ ตอนที่หนึ่งมี 1 บท คือบทนำ กล่าวถึงความเป็นมาของปัญหา ความมุ่งหมายของการวิจัยและขอบเขตของการวิจัย รวมทั้ง บัญชีอักษรย่อรายชื่อหนังสือใช้เป็นแหล่งของข้อมูล ตอนที่สอง บทที่ 2 ถึงบทที่ 7 ว่าด้วย เรื่องคำกล่าวถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงของคำทั้งด้านความหมาย รูปคำ และวิธีใช้ ตอนที่สาม บทที่ 8 ว่าด้วยเรื่องสำนวน กล่าวถึงสำนวนทั้งที่เป็นสำนวนความเปรียบและไม่ได้เป็นสำนวนความเปรียบซึ่งเปลี่ยนแปลงไป ตอนที่สี่ บทที่ 9 ว่าด้วยเรื่องลำดับของคำ กล่าว ถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงลำดับของคำต่างๆซึ่งปรากฏในประโยค ตอนที่ห้า เป็นบทสรุปผล การวิจัย และเสนอข้อเสนอแนะให้ผู้ที่สนใจศึกษาประวัติความเป็นมาของคำและสำนวนที่ปรากฏในวิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้
dc.description.abstractalternativeThe purpose of this thesis is to study the linguistic changes that have taken place during the Ratanakosin period: this period comprises two parts, namely, the early period, from the reign of King Rama I to the reign of King Rama VI, and the modern period, from the reign of King Rama VII to the present. The study reveals three main aspects of linguistic change. First, the change in the meaning of words. Some words which appear both in the early period and in the modern period are identical in form but different in meaning; and some words have the same meaning but are different in form. Some words used in the early period are either no longer used in ordinary modern language, or are used merely in some provincial dialects. When such words are in use in provincial dialects, their meaning usually either remains the same as in the early period, or differs only slightly. Furthermore, some prepositions and some classifiers which appear both in the early period and in the modern period have changed their usage. Second, the change in idioms. It has been found that some idioms from the early period are still in use in the modern period but are different either in their constituent parts or in their meaning; others have become obsolete Thirdly, the change in word order. This change marks clearly the linguistic difference between the early and modern periods. Finally, it is suggested that
