dc.description.abstract	วิทยานิพนธ์นี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายที่จะศึกษาลักษณะร่วมของเรื่องพระมาลัยในวรรณกรรมพื้นบ้านและวรรณคดี ซึ่งจะแสดงให้เห็นความสัมพันธ์ด้านต่างๆ ของวรรณกรรมพื้นบ้านและวรรณคดีพร้อมทั้งศึกษาวิเคราะห์วิธีการที่วรรณกรรมพื้นบ้านเปลี่ยนแปลงระดับเป็นวรรณคดีและทดลองวิเคราะห์อนุภาคนิทานพื้นบ้านเรื่องพระมาลัยตามดัชนีการแบ่งอนุภาคของสติธทอมป์สัน ซึ่งใช้เป็นเกณฑ์สากลสำหรับวิเคราะห์อนุภาคของนิทานพื้นบ้าน ผู้วิจัยได้รวบรวมข้อมูลเรื่องพระมาลัยทั้งสำนวนมุขปาฐะสำนวนลายลักษณ์ในบริเวณภาคกลาง โดยใช้ต้นฉบับที่มีผู้ปริวรรตเป็นภาษาไทยไว้แล้ว และต้นฉบับที่วิทยากรบางท่านกรุณาปริวรรตให้เป็นข้อมูลที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ศึกษาวิเคราะห์ลักษณะความแตกต่างของข้อมูลด้านเนื้อหา รูปแบบการประพันธ์และกลวิธีการแต่ง ตามเกณฑ์การพิจารณาลักษณะงานที่เป็นวรรณคดี ของวรรณคดีสโมสรผลการวิจัยพบว่า ลักษณะร่วมของเรื่องพระมาลัยในวรรณกรรมพื้นบ้านและวรรณคดี คือ ลักษณะร่วมด้านแนวความคิดซึ่งมีพุทธศาสนาเป็นพื้นฐาน ลักษณะร่วมด้านประเพณี และลักษณะร่วมด้านศิลปะ วิธีการที่วรรณกรรมพื้นบ้านยกระดับขึ้นเป็นวรรณคดีนั้นขึ้นกับกลวิธีการประพันธ์ ลักษณะเด่นทางวรรณศิลป์ของสำนวนวรรณคดีคือ ใช้สัมผัสอักษรตลอดเรื่อง ส่วนการนำดัชนีอนุภาคของนิทานของสติธ ทอมป์สัน มาวิเคราะห์อนุภาคของนิทานเรื่องพระมาลัยนั้น พบว่า อนุภาคของเรื่องพระมาลัยสามารถนำมาใช้กับเกณฑ์สากลได้ ข้อเสนอแนะสำหรับผู้ที่สนใจจะศึกษาค้นคว้าเรื่องพระมาลัยเพิ่มเติมคือ การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบข้อมูลเรื่องพระมาลัยในภาคกลาง กับภาคอื่นๆ ศึกษาการแพร่กระจายในแนวคติชนวิทยา หรือศึกษาการใช้สัญญาลักษณ์ในเรื่องพระมาลัยด้วยวิธีการทางจิตวิทยา หรือนำข้อมูลต้นฉบับที่มีอยู่มาปริวรรคเป็นภาษาไทยเพื่อศึกษาด้วยอักขรวิธี นอกจากนี้อาจรวบรวมอนุภาคของนิทานไทย ตามวิธีการของสติธ ทอมป์สัน ซึ่งจะเป็นประโยชน์สำหรับการศึกษาคติชนวิทยาต่อไปในอนาคต
dc.description.abstractalternative	The purpose of this thesis is to present the common elements in Phra Malai story and Phra Malai Khamluang which will reveal the relationship between the two versions, and analyze how folk literature elevated itself to developed literature. and also try to use stith Thompson’s Motif Index to classify the motifs of Phra Malai story in order to see the relationships with the international motifs that stith Thompson had been collected. Most of the manuscripts and palm leaves found in the central part of Thailand were written in ancient- languages, and some of them have already been translated into Thai The analytical and critical study of these data were made in the following aspects : content/ form and poetic technique by using the criteria of the Literary Club that was founded in the reign of King Rama VI. The finding is that the common elements of the two versions are in religious ideas based on Buddhist doctrine, in traditional rites and in arts. Phra Malai story becomes developed, literature or Phra Malai Khamluang because of the poetic techniques especially in choosing the beautiful and meaningful alliteration throughout the story. Besides this, stith Thompson’s Motif Index can be applied to Phra Malai story. Further studies of Phra Malai story may involve a psychological interpretation of the symbols used, a study of their transmission, and a comparative study of motifs which will be useful to folklorists both in Thailand and other countries.
