dc.description.abstract	วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีจุดประสงค์ที่จะศึกษาถึงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศไทยและประเทศญี่ปุ่น ในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ถึงรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว เพื่อทราบถึงนโยบายของทั้งสองประเทศที่มีต่อกัน โดยเริ่มตั้งแต่ญี่ปุ่นเปิดประเทศใน พ.ศ. 2397 (ค.ศ.1854) มีฐานะเป็นประเทศเล็กๆ ที่มีการพัฒนาตามแบบประเทศตะวันตกเช่นเดียวกับไทย จนถึงรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระปกเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว ญี่ปุ่นมีฐานะเป็นประเทศมหาอำนาจ ความสัมพันธ์ของประเทศทั้งสองได้เปลี่ยนไปตลอดระยะเวลาดังกล่าวนี้ ประการสำคัญ วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้จะชี้ให้เห็นถึงการขยายอิทธิพลทางด้านเศรษฐกิจของญี่ปุ่นในประเทศไทย วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้แบ่งออกเป็น 5 บท ไม่รวมบทนำและบทสรุป บทนำ กล่าวถึงความสำคัญของเรื่อง จุดมุ่งหมายและขอบเขตในการวิจัย การดำเนินการค้นคว้า และประโยชน์ที่คาดว่าจะได้รับ บทที่ 1 กล่าวถึงความเป็นมาของความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศไทยและประเทศญี่ปุ่น ตั้งแต่เริ่มแรกในสมัยกรุงสุโขทัยและสมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา จนถึงต้นรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว บทที่ 2 อธิบายสาเหตุของการเปิดความสัมพันธ์ในรัชสมัยพระบาทสมเด็จพระจุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว และกล่าวถึงนโยบายของประเทศทั้งสองที่มีต่อกัน บทที่ 3 เน้นถึงบทบาทและความสำคัญของชาวญี่ปุ่นที่เข้ามารับราชการในประเทศไทย มีทั้งทางด้านกฎหมาย การศึกษา และการเกษตรกรรม บทที่ 4 วิเคราะห์และวิจารณ์ถึงสิทธิสภาพนอกอาณาเขต สาเหตุของการเสียสิทธิสภาพนอกอาณาเขตให้แก่ญี่ปุ่น ปัญหาต่างๆ ที่เกิดจากการเสียสิทธิพิเศษนี้ การแก้ไขของรัฐบาลไทยเพื่อจะได้สิทธิพิเศษนี้คืนมา บทที่ 5 บรรยายความสัมพันธ์ทางด้านเศรษฐกิจระหว่างประเทศไทยและประเทศญี่ปุ่น การได้เปรียบดุลและเสียดุล สินค้าสำคัญของประเทศทั้งสอง รวมทั้งกล่าวถึงองค์การและบริษัทการค้าที่มีส่วนช่วยให้การค้าระหว่างประเทศทั้งสองนี้เป็นไปอย่างสะดวก บทสรุป สรุปความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศทั้งสองในช่วงระยะเวลาดังกล่าว ซึ่งแบ่งออกได้เป็นสองลักษณะ คือระยะแรกเป็นลักษณะประเทศเล็กติดต่อกันแต่ต่อมาภายหลังเป็นลักษณะประเทศมหาอำนาจจะพึงปฏิบัติต่อประเทศเล็ก และ จะชี้ให้เห็นถึงแนวโน้มของญี่ปุ่นที่จะเพิ่มอิทธิพลในประเทศไทยทั้งทางด้านเศรษฐกิจและการเมือง
dc.description.abstractalternative	Thesis aims at studying the relationship between Thailand and Japan during the reigns of King Rama V, Rama VI and Rama VII in order to know the policies between the two countries. The study covers the period from the time Japan opened her intercourse with Thailand in the Ayudhya period down to the reign of King Chulalongkorn or Rama V and the reign of King Rama VII. The relationship between the two countries was changed during that time. Most of this thesis seeks to reveal Japan’s economic expansion in Thailand. The thesis id devided into 5 chapters excluding the introduction and the conlusion which can be summarized as follows: the introduction states the significance of the topic, the purpose, the scope and the research method as well as the problems and the benefit gained from the study. Chapter 1 deals with the development of Thai – Japanese relations from the ancient time to the reign of King Rama V. Chapter 2 explains the reasons behind the renewal of the relationship between Thailand and Japan in the reign of King Rama V, the policies of the two countries, and the cordialty between the two countries during that time. Chapter III emphasises the role and importance of several Japanese working of the Thai government. These Japanese are in the Ministry of Justice, Education and Agriculture, chapter IV analyses and criticises the extra – territoriality, the reason that the Thai had to surrender this privilege to Japan, and other problems that followed, and the ways to abolish it. Chapter V explains the economic relations between the two countries, that alternately waxed and waned. It deals also with organizations and companies that help facililate trading. The concluding chapter summarizes the relationship between Thailand and Japan which could be characterized into two categories : that between small countries in the beginning to be developed into that between a powerful nation and a small one. It points out also the tendency that Japan would try to increase its influence upon Thailand in economics as well as in politics.
