dc.description.abstractการวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประเมินหนังสือในสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์ของหอสมุดกลางมหาวิทยาลัยขอนแก่น และการใช้หนังสือเหล่านี้ว่ามีความสัมพันธ์กับหลักสูตรการเรียนการสอนของคณะวิทยาศาสตร์มากน้อยเพียงใด โดยนำรายวิชาที่เปิดสอนในคณะวิทยาศาสตร์มากำหนดหมวดหมู่ตามระบบการจัดหมู่ของหอสมุดรัฐสภาอเมริกัน แล้วนำหมวดหมู่ที่ได้ตรวจสอบกับบัตรแจ้งหมู่ และเก็บสถิติการใช้หนังสือตามหมวดหมู่ที่กำหนดนั้น นำข้อมูลที่ได้มาวิเคราะห์หาค่าสัมประสิทธิ์สหสัมพันธ์ (Spearman’s Rank-Order Correlation Coefficient) ผลการวิจัยพบว่าจำนวนหนังสือในสาขาวิทยาศาสตร์ที่มีอยู่ และการใช้หนังสือนั้นมีความสัมพันธ์กับหลักสูตรการเรียนการสอน แต่เมื่อศึกษาถึงอายุของหนังสือในสาขานี้พบว่ายังไม่ทันสมัยพอ ผลจากการวิจัยครั้งนี้จึงเป็นแนวทางในการพิจารณาปรับปรุงงานของหอสมุดกลางในด้านนโยบายการพัฒนาทรัพยากรให้เพียงพอและทันสมัย รวมทั้งขั้นตอนการปฏิบัติงานต่าง ๆ ให้เหมาะสมรวดเร็ว เพื่อให้บริการได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพมากกว่าที่เป็นอยู่-
dc.description.abstractalternativeThe objective of this research was to evaluate books in the field of science of Khon Kaen University’s Central Library and their usage to determine the extent of their relations with the science curriculum of the Faculty of Science. By classifying subjects taught in the faculty in accordance with the Library of Congress Classification System and then checking the resultant classes against the library shelflist cards, and compiling statistics of book usage of the assigned classes. The data obtained were analyzed to determine Spearman’s Rank-Order Correlation Cofficient. The research outcome revealed that the library holdings and their usage had relations with the science curriculum; but when the ages of the books in the field were studied, they were found to be not up-to-date enough. The result of this research, therefore, provided a means for consideration of improving the Central Library in respect of the policy and development of adequate and up-to-date resources as well as appropriate technical processings to provide more efficient services than at present.-
