| dc.description.abstract | การศึกษาเกี่ยวกับมโนทัศน์เรื่อง "เมีย" ในสังคมไทยเป็นเรื่องที่น่าสนใจที่จะศึกษาเรื่องหนึ่ง การเป็น "ผัว-เมีย" คือการเริ่มต้นของครอบครัว ซึ่งเป็นองค์ประกอบพื้นฐานของสังคม การเข้าใจมโนทัศน์เรื่อง "เมีย" จะช่วยให้เข้าใจการเปลี่ยนแปลงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างชายหญิง รวมทั้งบทบาทของรัฐและสถาบันต่างๆ ที่มีต่อสถานะของผู้หญิงในประวัติศาสตร์สังคมไทยเพิ่มมากขึ้น วิทยานิพนธ์เรื่องนี้ มุ่งที่จะศึกษามโนทัศน์เรื่อง "เมีย" ในสังคมไทย ตั้งแต่รัชสมัยของพระบาทสมเด็จพระจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว จนถึงการเปลี่ยนแปลงกฎหมายครอบครัว บรรพ 5 แห่งประมวลกฎหมายแพ่งและพาณิชย์ พ.ศ. 2478 และความคิดสมัยใหม่แบบตะวันตกเกี่ยวกับ สถานภาพสตรีและครอบครัวที่เข้ามามีอิทธิพลต่อการเปลี่ยนแปลงมโนทัศน์เรื่อง "เมีย" ในสังคมไทยสมัยปฏิรูปประเทศ รวมทั้งการเปลี่ยนแปลงมโนทัศน์เรื่อง "เมีย" ซึ่งเป็นปัจจัยหนึ่งในการขับเคลื่อนความคิดทางสังคมสู่การแก้ไขกฎหมายครอบครัว หลังเปลี่ยนแปลงการปกครอง พ.ศ. 2475 จากการศึกษาพบว่า มโนทัศน์เรื่อง "เมีย" ในสังคมไทยเป็นเรื่องที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงความสัมพันธ์ที่ไม่เท่าเทียมกันในครอบครัว ระหว่างสามีภรรยา และกลุ่มภรรยาที่มีความแตกต่างด้านชนชั้น ฐานะทางเศรษฐกิจ และชาติพันธุ์ เมื่อความคิดสมัยใหม่แบบตะวันตกเรื่องสถานภาพสตรีและครอบครัวเข้ามาในสังคมไทยสมัยปฏิรูปประเทศ ได้ก่อให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงมโนทัศน์เรื่อง "เมีย" ในสังคมไทย และเกิดข้อถกเถียงเกี่ยวกับมโนทัศน์เรื่อง "เมีย" ซึ่งนำไปสู่การแก้กฎหมายครอบครัวให้เป็นแบบผัวเดียวเมียเดียวใน พ.ศ. 2478 | en_US |
| dc.description.abstractalternative | The study of the concept of "Mia" in Thai society is one of the issues which is very interesting to study. The husband-wife relationship is the foundation of the family, which is the basic element of society. Understanding the concept of "Mia" could aid the understanding of changes in the relationship between men and women as well as the roles of the state and various institutions towards the status of women in Thai social history. This thesis studies the concept of "Mia" in Thai society from since the reign of King Monkut (Rama IV) to the change of Family Law (Book 5) of the Civil and Commercial Code of 1935. The thesis also focuses on Western modern ideas concerning the status of women and family that influenced changes of the concept of "Mia" in Thai society during the reform period, as well as the changes of "Mia" concept that became a factor among the driving forces behind the revision of the Family Law following the Revolution of 1932. Results from this study indicate that the "Mia" concept in Thai society demonstrates the unequal relationship within the family, between husband and wife and among groups of minor wives from different classes, financial status, and ethnic backgrounds. When modern ideas concerning women's status and family came from the West into Thai society during the reform period, they resulted in the transformation of the concept of "Mia" in Thai society and raised debates concerning the concept of "Mia" that led to the revision of the Family Law to enforce monogamy in 1935. | en_US |
