| dc.description.abstract | วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มุ่งศึกษาวิเคราะห์บันทึกความทรงจำความพิการโดยนักเขียนอเมริกันที่มีความพิการทางกายเรื่อง Waist-High in the World: A Life among the Nondisabled (1997) ของ แนนซี แมรส์ (Nancy Mairs) เรื่อง Too Late to Die Young: Nearly True Tales from a Life (2005) ของ แฮเรียต แม็กไบรด์ จอห์นสัน (Harriet McBryde Johnson) เรื่อง My Body Politic (2006) ของ ซิมิ ลินตัน (Simi Linton) และเรื่อง Miracle Boy Grows up: How the Disability Rights Revolution Saved My Sanity (2012) ของ เบ็น แมตต์ลิน (Ben Mattlin) ในฐานะเรื่องเล่าโต้กลับ ในฐานะที่เป็นบันทึกความทรงจำความพิการแบบใหม่ เรื่องเล่าเหล่านี้แสดงให้เห็นถึงความตระหนักรู้ในเรื่องความพิการในฐานะสิ่งประกอบสร้างทางสังคมและวัฒนธรรม มีลักษณะโต้กลับแนวคิด มายาคติ และภาพลักษณ์ด้านลบที่มีต่อความพิการและคนพิการ มีการเชื่อมโยงระหว่างตัวผู้เขียนและชุมชนคนพิการ และสนับสนุนเรื่องสิทธิมนุษยชนของคนพิการ จากการศึกษาพบว่าเรื่องเล่าดังกล่าวเปิดพื้นที่ให้คนพิการได้โต้กลับและต่อรองกับความคิดกระแสหลักเกี่ยวกับความพิการและคนพิการ ในเรื่องการดำรงชีวิตอิสระและเพศวิถีของคนพิการ ซึ่งได้รับอิทธิพลจากแนวคิดการแบ่งแยกคนโดยใช้ความไม่พิการเป็นมาตรฐาน (ableism) และสร้างความหมายใหม่ต่อเรื่องดังกล่าวจากประสบการณ์และมุมมองของคนพิการเอง เรื่องเล่าแสดงให้เห็นว่าชีวิตของคนพิการมิได้ดำเนินไปตามวาทกรรมเทเลธอน คนพิการมีความสามารถในการบริหารจัดการชีวิต ดูแลตัวเองและคนรอบข้างด้วยวิธีที่สร้างสรรค์ขึ้นในแบบของตนเอง มีบทบาทในพื้นที่ที่หลากหลายในปริมณฑลสาธารณะ และมีความสามารถในขอบเขตเรื่องเพศวิถีอีกด้วย | en_US |
| dc.description.abstractalternative | The main purpose of this thesis is to analyze disability memoirs by American writers with physical disability which are Waist-High in the World: A Life among the Nondisabled (1997) by Nancy Mairs, Too Late to Die Young: Nearly True Tales from a Life (2005) by Harriet McBryde Johnson, My Body Politic (2006) by Simi Linton and Miracle Boy Grows up: How the Disability Rights Revolution Saved My Sanity (2012) by Ben Mattlin as counter-narratives. As new disability memoirs, the selected narratives display awareness of disability as a social and cultural construct. They can be considered a site countering the prevalent negative ideas, myths, and images concerning disability and people with disabilities. Moreover, their stories emphasize connection between disabled writers and the disability community, and also uphold disability rights. The research shows that these disability memoirs serve as a space for countering and negotiating with dominant ideas about disability and people with disabilities, especially with regard to their independent living and sexuality which have been affected by ableism, and also offer new meanings about these two issues from the disabled people’s experiences and perspectives. These narratives suggest that disabled people’s lives do not conform to Telethon discourses, and that they have ability to control and manage their lives, take care of themselves and others in their own creative ways, play significant roles in the public sphere, and also have sexual ability. | en_US |
