| dc.description.abstract | วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อรวบรวมกลวิธีการนำตำนานโพรมีทีอุสมาใช้ในวรรณกรรม 4 ฉบับได้แก่ บทละครเรื่อง Prometheus Bound และ Prometheus Unbound นวนิยายเรื่อง Frankenstein ; or , the Modem Prometheus และเรื่องเล่าเรื่อง Le Prométhée Mal Enchaine รวมทั้งวิเคราะห์ถึงความหลากหลายของการนำตำนานโพรมีทิอุสมาใช้ในวรรณกรรมฉบับต่าง ๆ ผลการวิจัยพบว่านักเขียนทั้ง 4 คนคือเอสคิลุส เชลลีย์ แมรี เชลลีย์และอองเดร ชีดมีกลวิธีการนำตำนานโพรมีทิอุสมาใช้แตกต่างกันออกไปโดยรวบรวมได้ทั้งสิ้น 4 วิธีคือการนำตำนานมาใช้โดยคงเนื้อเรื่องหลักไว้ตามเดิม การรับอิทธิพลจากบทละครกรีกโรมันแล้วนำมาแต่งเพิ่มเติม การนำตำนานเดิมมาสร้างเป็นตำนานใหม่และการนำตำนาน มาใช้เป็นสัญลักษณ์ กลวิธีที่แตกต่างกันนี้มีที่มาจากระดับความเชื่อและศรัทธาในพระเจ้าซึ่งแตกต่างกันไปในแต่ละยุคสมัย นอกจากนั้นความหลากหลายในการนำเสนอตำนานโพรมีทีอุสยังเป็นผลสืบเนื่องจากแนวคิดและมุมมองของผู้แต่ง ดังนั้นโพรมีทิอุสจึงเป็นผู้ไม่ยอมพ่ายแพ้แก่อำนาจเผด็จการในเรื่อง Prometheus Bound เป็นวีรบุรุษผู้มีแต่ความรักและการให้อภัยในเรื่อง Prometheus Unbound เป็นมนุษย์ปุถุชนผู้มีทั้งความเข้มแข็ง อ่อนแอและหวาดกลัวในเรื่อง Frankenstein ; or, the Modern Prometheus และเป็นสัญลักษณ์แทนอำนาจที่คอยผลักดันให้มนุษย์เดินทางไปสู่อุดมคติในเรื่อง Le Prométhée Mal Enchaîné ยิ่งไปกว่านั้นปัจจัยอีกประการหนึ่งซึ่งมีอิทธิพลต่อโครงเรื่องและแก่นเรื่องของตำนานโพรมีทิอุสในวรรณกรรม ฉบับต่าง ๆ เช่นกันคือบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์และภูมิหลังของผู้แต่ง อิทธิพลจากบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์ที่วีเคราะห์ได้จากวรรณกรรมทั้ง 4 เรื่องนี้ประกอบด้วยการต่อต้านอำนาจเผด็จการ เหตุจลาจลหลังการปฏิวัติฝรั่งเศส สังคมสมัยโรแมนติก ความตกต่ำด้านสถานภาพของมนุษย์และพัฒนาการด้านความเชื่อในพระเจ้า การศึกษาเปรียบเทียบวรรณกรรมทั้ง 4 ฉบับซึ่งมีที่มาจากตำนานโพรมีทิอุสเหมือนกันช่วยให้เห็นภาพรวมและ พัฒนาการด้านกลวิธีการนำตำนานโพรมีทิอุสมาใช้ในวรรณกรรม ความสำคัญของบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์และภูมิหลังของผู้แต่ง รวมทั้งเป็นเครื่องพิสูจน์ว่าตำนานโพรมีทิอุสมีความเป็นสากล สามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ได้กับการแต่งวรรณกรรมต่าง ชาติต่างภาษาและต่างยุคสมัย | - |
| dc.description.abstractalternative | The objectives of this thesis are to compile the ways of using the Prometheus myth in four selected texts : Prometheus Bound, Prometheus Unbound, Frankenstein ; or , the Modern Prometheus and Le Prométhée Mai Enchaîné, and to analyze the differences in the treatment of the myth. The study shows that the four authors - Aeschylus, Shelley, Mary Shelley and André Gide - have different ways of dealing with the Prometheus myth, namely by maintaining the plot line of the original myth, rewriting the classical versions, creating a new myth from the old one and using the myth as a literary symbol. The differences result from different degrees of faith and belief in gods of each epoch. Moreover, the diversity of the myth treatment also derive from the authors’ individual ideas and points of view. Therefore, Prometheus are an adamant resistant to tyranny in Prometheus Bound, a loving and forgiving hero in Prometheus Unbound, a human being with human strengths and weaknesses in Frankenstein ; or , the Modern Prometheus and a symbol of power driving human beings to ideals in Le Prométhée \ . Mai Enchaîné. Furthermore, the other factors influencing the plots and themes manoeuvring in the works mentioned are historical contexts and the authors’ backgrounds. These forces are the revolt against tyranny, the social and political confusion after the French Revolution, the Romantic society, the fall of human status and the development of beliefs in gods. The comparative study of the four literary works which derive from Prometheus myth shows US the overall pictures and the development of the ways the Prometheus myth is used in literary texts, the importance of historical contexts and the authors’ backgrounds. This thesis also proves that the Prometheus myth is universal and it can be adapted and applied to the literary of different nations, languages and ages. | - |
