Abstract: This special research aims at analyzing textual elements of Ruenglaonailokluangta, a novel by Phichetsak Phophayak and finding suitable approaches to translation of this work of fiction because it is written in poetic language which combines unique, symbolic, aesthetic, and aural visual features. The novel presents tremendous challenges that require the translator to find appropriate translation strategies to achieve equivalences in terms of both style and meaning. After considering the potential problems and other factors, the researcher has decided to adopt Jean Delisle’s interpretive approach, Christiane Nord’s textual analysis, Fortunato Israel’s approach to literary translation, and other related concepts and strategies. These theories and strategies were implemented at different stages of the research project, namely analysis, comprehension, and translation. Textual analysis was an analytical tool that was applied along with other related concepts to help promote a deeper understanding of the text. The interpretive approach to literary translation and other translation strategies allowed the researcher to work systematically and effectively to obtain appropriate translation as a result. With the application of these approaches and concepts, it has been possible to find satisfactory solutions to many of the translation problems, retaining much of the poetic language of the source text, and the meaning of the text in to the translated version.
