Abstract:
The College of Public Health, Chulalongkom University has launched a distant education called “Learning at the Workplace Program (LWP)”. Therefore, the major problem of this group of student is the long distance from the College. The purpose of this study was to develop the appropriate information technology for disseminating public health information at the Information Center of the College of Public Health for LWP students. The technology is called Computer Aided Instruction (CAI) on Compact Disk Read Only Memory (CD-ROM). CAI on CD-ROM will encourage LWP students for using services at the Information Center of the College to learn more how to access public health information. CAI on CD-ROM is the best way to make LWP students familiar with self-learning through media. The contents contained in CD-ROM are divided in 4 parts. Data in the contents are received from a study by sending a questionnaire about need assessment and priority setting of accessing information services to students. Part I is an interactive part on how to access public health information resources and includes exercise part. Part II, the list of college publications will be the content in CD-ROM. Part III provides information on related subjects of public health for students to link to. Part IV will provides the way for students to contact Information Center staff in case they would like to receive more information. The content of each part is useful for accessing public health information.
