Abstract:
Pervaporation is a new method for ethanol and water separation using lower energy and investment. This technique is considerd as a better candidate for separation of close boiling point azeotropic or isomeric mixtures. Moreover, the membrane selectivity is very important for this technique. The membrane in this study is made from bisphenol-A, formaldehyde and two different type of diamines, 1,6-hexanediamine (hda) and ethylenediamine (eda). The objective of this work is to study ethanol/water separation efficiency by varying testing tem perature, membrane thickness and ethanol concentration.
