| dc.description.abstract | วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษานิยายวิทยาศาสตร์ชุด สถาบันสถาปนา ของ ไอแซค อาซิมอฟ ถึงวิธีการนำกระบวนทัศน์ทางวิทยาศาสตร์รวมทั้งนำประวัติศาสตร์จริงมาใช้ในการสร้างเรื่องเพื่อสะท้อนให้เห็นถึงแก่นเรื่อง จากการศึกษาพบว่า นิยายวิทยาศาสตร์ชุดนี้ได้เสนอแก่นเรื่องว่า "การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางประวัติศาสตร์มักจะเป็นไปในรูปแบบเดิม แต่ก็จะมีการสร้างสรรค์สิ่งใหม่อยู่เสมอ" โดยได้นำเสนอกระบวนทัศน์สองแบบ คือกระบวนทัศน์จักรกลนิยม (Mechanism) ที่พัฒนามาตั้งแต่คริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 17 โดยสามารถนำมาเทียบกับศาสตร์ไซโคฮิสทรี (Psychohistory) ในเรื่อง ด้วยลักษณะสำคัญสามประการคือ การมองโลกแบบกลไก/ระบบ ลักษณะนิยัตินิยม (Determinism) และลักษณะการควบคุมธรรมชาติ กระบวนทัศน์แบบที่สองคือ กระบวนทัศน์ฟิสิกส์ใหม่ (New Physics) ในคริสต์ศตวรรษที่ 20 ที่เทียบได้กับวิถีชีวิตแบบปฐมภพ (Gaia) ในเรื่อง ซึ่งมีจุดเด่นอยู่ที่การมองโลกอย่างเป็นองค์รวม การใช้กระบวนทัศน์ทางวิทยาศาสตร์ทั้งสองแบบในการสร้างเรื่องนั้นก็เพื่อแสดงถึงวิธีคิดและการประยุกต์ใช้ของกระบวนทัศน์ทั้งสอง รวมทั้งนำเสนอรูปแบบของการเปลี่ยนผ่านกระบวนทัศน์จากกระบวนทัศน์เก่าไปสู่กระบวนทัศน์ใหม่ ในขณะเดียวกันนิยายวิทยาศาสตร์ชุดนี้ยังได้สร้างชุดประวัติศาสตร์ในอนาคตขึ้นมา โดยสามารถนำมาเทียบเคียงกับประวัติศาสตร์จริงของยุโรปในยุคโรมัน ยุคกลาง และช่วงการเข้าสู่ยุคฟื้นฟูศิลปวิทยาการและยุคสมัยใหม่มาเป็นลำดับ ซึ้งแสดงให้เห็นถึงรูปแบบของการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางประวัติศาสตร์ว่ามีความคล้ายคลึงกันถึงแม้ว่าเวลาจะต่างกัน ทั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์สองประการ คือ เพื่อแสดงถึงการใช้กระบวนทัศน์ทั้งสองแบบในการมองประวัติศาสตร์และสังคม และเพื่อเน้นย้ำให้ผู้อ่านได้ย้อนกลับมาพิจารณาถึงโลกทัศน์และแนวทางการดำเนินชีวิตทั้งในอดีตและอนาคตของตนเอง โดยที่ไซโคฮิสทรีหรือกระบวนทัศน์จักรกลนิยมนั้นเป็นตัวแทนของโลกทัศน์ของคนในอดีตและปัจจุบัน ส่วนปฐมภพหรือกระบวนทัศน์แบบฟิสิกส์ใหม่เป็นตัวแทนของโลกทัศน์ใหม่ที่มีแนวโน้มจะพัฒนาต่อไปในอนาคต | en |
| dc.description.abstractalternative | This thesis aims to study the representation of scientific paradigms and history in Asimov's science fiction, the Foundation series. The study shows that the major theme of this science fiction series is that "history changes in the same pattern, but there will always be new things." This theme can be seen in the representation of two paradigms in the story: the Mechanistic Paradigm and the New Physics Paradigm. The science of "Psychohistory" in the series, with its three main characteristics--the mechanistic worldview, the deterministic worldview, and the attempt to control nature--can be compared to the Mechanistic Paradigm, which has developed since the seventeenth century. On the other hand, "Gaia," the holistic worldview and way of life in Foundation, are very much akin to the New Physics Paradigm, which has flourished since the early twentieth century. The representation of these scientific paradigms reveals their modes of thinking and ways of applying them. Moreover, it also shows the pattern of a paradigm shift from an old paradigm to a new one. At the same time, this science fiction series features a picture of future history, which can be compared to European history of the Roman Age, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Modern Ages. This represents the pattern of historical change that always goes in the same way though occurring at different times. This depiction of future history has two main purposes: to show the way the two paradigms work with history and societies and at the same time, to invite the readers to turn back to examine their worldviews and ways of life, both those in the past and those to come in the future. More specifically, Psychohistory and Mechanistic Paradigm are representative of humans' past and present worldviews whereas Gaia, as well as its model the New Physics Paradigm, might be considered as apotential new paradigam that promises humans' future. | en |
