dc.description.abstract	จากการสำรวจงานวิชาการที่ศึกษาเรื่องภาษาในหลุนอี่ว์พบว่าเป็นการศึกษาภาษาในขอบเขตของแนวคิด “การทำนามให้เที่ยง” หรือเจิ้งหมิง (Rectification of Names) งานศึกษาเหล่านั้นยังจำกัดขอบเขตการศึกษาการใช้ภาษาในหลุนอี่ว์ไว้ที่ถ้อยคำ (words) ที่สื่อสารโดยใช้คำพูด แต่ยังไม่มีงานศึกษา ‘ความเงียบ (silence)’ ที่ปรากฏในหลุนอี่ว์ ด้วยข้อพิจารณาเหล่านี้จึงน่าสนใจที่จะศึกษาวิเคราะห์บทบาทของ ‘ความเงียบ’ ผ่านทาง ‘สิ่งที่พูด (said)’ โดยขงจื่อ สิ่งนี้จะทำให้เราตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของ ‘ความเงียบ’ ในฐานะยุทธวิธีในการถ่ายทอดสารทางปรัชญาในหลุนอี่ว์ ซึ่งวิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้เสนอว่า ‘ความเงียบ’ สามารถถูกใช้เพื่อขัดเกลามนุษย์ให้อยู่ในวิถีทางของขงจื่อได้ ในการศึกษา ‘สาร’ ทางปรัชญาที่ปรากฏผ่าน ‘ความเงียบ’ ของขงจื่อ เราสามารถสร้างความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับ “สิ่งที่ไม่ได้พูด (unsaid)’ ซึ่งเสนอว่า ‘ความเงียบ’ แสดงการผ่อนปรน ความอดทนอดกลั้น และการพยายามถนอมรักษาสายสัมพันธ์ระหว่างมนุษย์ ทั้งนี้มียุทธวิธีการสื่อสารสามแบบที่แสดงผ่าน ‘ความเงียบ’: การพูดโดยอ้อม การหยุดการสนทนา และการสื่อความผ่านท่าทาง ขงจื่อมักจะใช้ยุทธวิธีการสื่อสารเหล่านี้ในการพูดให้น้อยที่สุดเพื่อให้ผู้อื่นแสวงหา “สามแง่มุมที่เหลือ” ด้วยตัวของเธอและเขาเอง ดังนั้นการอธิบายความหมายเชิงปรัชญาที่ซับซ้อนของ ‘ความเงียบ’ ในหลุนอี่ว์จะช่วยดึงความหมายที่ “ซ่อน” อยู่ของสิ่งที่พูดโดยผู้รู้ออกมาได้	-
dc.description.abstractalternative	Most studies of language in the Analects have placed a focus on the concept of the Rectification of Names (Zhèngmíng). These studies have been confined to analyzing the use of words which are communicated through speech. However, there is a lack of the study of ‘silence’ in the Analects. In the light of these considerations, it would be interesting to analyze the roles of silence through “what is said” by Confucius. This would make us realize the importance of ‘silence’ as a strategy of transmitting the philosophical messages in the Analects. This thesis proposes that silence can be used to cultivate human being along the Confucius path. In the examination of the philosophical ‘massage’ in the silence of Confucius, we offer an understanding of “the unsaid”. Silence indicates restraint, tolerance, and efforts to maintain human relationships. There are three strategies of meaning through silence: an indirect speech, a pause during conversation and conveying meanings through gestures. Confucius often uses these strategies to speak as little as possible in order to allow others to discover “the other three corners” by herself/himself. Thus, a philosophical exposition of silence in the Analects would help bring out the “hidden” meaning of what is said by the master.	-
