| dc.description.abstract | วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาภาพลักษณ์ของชาวจีนในเมืองไทยที่ปรากฏในนวนิยายไทย พ.ศ. 2512-2533 และศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างภาพลักษณ์ของชาวจีนและบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์ในช่วงเวลาดังกล่าว จากการศึกษาพบว่า ภาพลักษณ์ของชาวจีนในไทยที่ปรากฏในนวนิยายช่วงทศวรรษ 2480-2500 มีภาพลักษณ์เป็น "คนอื่น" ผู้ร้าย ศัตรู กลุ่มผู้มีอิทธิพล "คอมมิวนิสต์" คนไม่มีคุณธรรม ต่างจากภาพลักษณ์ของชาวจีนในเมืองไทยที่ปรากฏในนวนิยายไทย พ.ศ. 2512-2533 ที่มีภาพลักษณ์เป็น "จีนสยาม" มีการปรับตัวกลายเป็นไทย มีความรู้สึกภาคภูมิใจในเชื้อชาติจีน และความเป็นจีนของตนเอง คนที่มีคุณธรรม ยึดมั่นในขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณี นายทุน นักธุรกิจที่ประสบความสำเร็จทางด้านธุรกิจ และแก้ไขภาพลักษณ์ "คอมมิวนิสต์" ให้ดีขึ้น การเปลี่ยนแปลงภาพลักษณ์ของชาวจีนในเมืองไทยที่ปรากฏในนวนิยายไทย พ.ศ. 2512-2533 มีปัจจัยมาจากสภาพการเมือง เศรษฐกิจ สังคม และวัฒนธรรม ทางด้านการเมือง ได้แก่ กฎหมายปราบปรามการกระทำอันเป็นคอมมิวนิสต์ที่ผ่อนคลายลง นโยบายของรัฐบาลที่เน้นการกีดกันทางเชื้อชาติลดลงแผนพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจที่ทำให้เกิดการสะสมทุน และขยายตัวของกลุ่มทุนเชื้อสายจีน ทางด้านเศรษฐกิจ ได้แก่ การขยายและเติบโตของกลุ่มทุน การรวมตัวของสมาคมและองค์กรทางธุรกิจของชาวจีน ที่มีส่วนผลักดันต่อการเติบโตของกลุ่มนายทุน นักธุรกิจจีน ทำให้มีฐานะมั่งคั่ง และร่ำรวย จนสามารถเข้าไปมีบทบาททางการเมืองและเศรษฐกิจของประเทศ ส่วนทางด้านสังคมและวัฒนธรรม ได้แก่ การเปิดกว้างและยอมรับว่าสังคมไทยมีความหลากหลายทางวัฒนธรรม และเชื้อชาติ ทำให้สังคมไทยยอมรับว่าชาวจีนเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของสังคมไทยด้วย แม้ว่าแนวคิดความเป็นไทยกระแสหลักที่ดูถูก เหยียดหยาม ให้ชาวจีนเป็น "คนอื่น" ยังคงมีอยู่ในสังคมไทยก็ตาม | en_US |
| dc.description.abstractalternative | The purpose of this thesis is to study the images of the Chinese in Thailand in Thai novels 1969-1980, and the relationship between those images and their historical context. The Chinese in Thailand as portrayed in the selected Thai novels during 1937-1957 were as the "other", "criminals", "enemies", "mafia" or "influential people", "communists" and "unethical people". These images were different from the images of the Chinese presented in the selected Thai novels 1969-1980. The Chinese in the later period were regarded as the Sino-Siamese, who assimilated themselves into Thai culture but still had pride in their race and their Chinese identity. They adhered to morality, tradition and culture. They were also regarded as successful businessmen. Finally, the Sino-Siamese were less associated with communism. The images appeared in the selected Thai novels during 1969-1980 were influenced by political factors such as the increased leniecy of the law against communism, the diminution of racial discrimination policies, and the national socio-economic development plans that stimulated the investment of the Chinese business groups. The images were also influenced by economic factors such as the growth of capitalist groups, and the Chinese societies and business organizations which contributed to the Chinese businessmen's wealth as well as allowing them political and economic roles on the national level. As for social and cultural factors, the images of the Chinese were influenced by the acceptance of the Sino-Siamese as members of Thai society, and the recognition of inter-racial and cultural diversity in Thailand, even though a strain of Thai nationalism which looks down upon the Sino-Siamese and treats them as "the other" still exists in Thailand. | en_US |
