| dc.description.abstract | พฤติกรรมการกินของมดเป็นพฤติกรรมที่มีความสำคัญต่อระบบนิเวศบนบก มดสามารถกินอาหารได้หลากหลายประเภท โดยมดแต่ละชนิดมีการเลือกประเภทของอาหารที่แตกต่างกัน นอกจากนี้ปริมาณของอาหารยังอาจมีผลต่อการเข้าเลือกอาหารมองมด ดังนั้นการศึกษานี้จึงศึกษาชนิดและปริมาณอาหารต่อการเลือกกินในมดที่ทำหน้าที่หาอาหารของมดคันไฟ Solenopsis geminata จำนวน 3 รัง ในพื้นที่อำเภอสัตหีบ จังหวัดชลบุรี ณ ช่วงเวลา 09.00–11.00 น. ซึ่งเป็นช่วงเวลาที่มดคันไฟมีกิจกรรมสูงสุดในตอนกลางวัน อาหารที่ใช้ทดสอบมี 4 ชนิด ได้แก่ น้ำตาลทราย แป้งข้าวเจ้า ถั่วลิสงบด และน้ำมันพืช พบว่า ปริมาณอาหารที่ถูกกินและมีความถี่ของการเข้าสัมผัสอาหารของมดคันไฟไม่มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญระหว่างอาหารที่นำมาทดสอบ การศึกษาผลของปริมาณอาหารโดยใช้ถั่วลิสงบดเป็นตัวแทน จำนวน 4 ปริมาณ ได้แก่ 4, 8, 16 และ 32 กรัม พบว่า ความถี่ของการเข้าสัมผัสไม่มีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญระหว่างถั่วลิสงบดทั้ง 4 ปริมาณ แต่เมื่อพิจารณาที่ปริมาณอาหารที่ถูกกิน พบว่ามีความแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญ โดยมดคันไฟกินถั่วลิสงบดที่ปริมาณ 32 กรัมมากที่สุด รองลงมาได้แก่ ปริมาณที่ 16, 8 และ 4 กรัม ตามลำดับ ซึ่งนั่นหมายความว่า ปริมาณอาหารมีผลต่อการเลือกกินของมดคันไฟ S. geminata | en_US |
| dc.description.abstractalternative | Feeding behavior of ants is important for terrestrial ecosystems. Ants feed on a wide variety of foods depending on species. Moreover, quantity of food may also affect food selection of ants. Therefore, this study aims to investigate food type and quantity on feeding preference in foragers of the fire ant Solenopsis geminata. Experiment was conducted with three fire ant colonies in Sattahip District, Chonburi Province, at 09.00–11.00 hours which had the highest foraging activity. Four types of food were tested: sugar, rice flour, ground peanut and vegetable oil. Number of fire ant forager visits and food weight loss were not significantly different among food types. Effect of food quantity was studied with ground peanut in four quantities: 4, 8, 16 and 32 g. Number of fire ant forager visits was not significantly different among these quantities. On the other hand, food weight loss was significantly different among ground peanut quantities, in which the highest preference was observed in 32 g trial, followed by 16, 8 and 4 g. This indicates that food quantity affects food preference of fire ants. | en_US |
