| Abstract: | วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ที่จะศึกษาเกี่ยวกับประวัติฤษีอคัสตยะ และบทบาทของฤษีอคัสตยะ ในวรรณคดีสันสกฤต ตลอดจนถึงความเชื่อของชาวอินเดียเกี่ยวกับฤษีอคัสตยะ ข้อมูลและหลักฐานต่างๆ ผู้วิจัยได้รวบรวมจากวรรณคดีสันสกฤต ได้แก่ คัมภีร์ฤคเวท คัมภีร์อถรรพเวท มหาภารตะ รามายณะ และปุราณะฉบับต่างๆ เป็นต้น ผลของการวิจัยสรุปได้ว่า ฤษีอคัสตยะเป็นมหาฤษีผู้บำเพ็ญตบะอย่างอุกฤษฏ์จนมีฤทธิ์อำนาจเป็นที่เกรงกลัวของเทวดาและอสูร บทบาทสำคัญของฤษีอคัสตยะ คือ การปราบปรามคนชั่ว เพื่อสันติสุขของสวรรค์และมนุษย์ เพื่อรักษากฎธรรมชาติ และคุ้มครองธรรมะ ด้านความเชื่อ ฤษีอคัสตยะเป็นบุคคลแรกที่นพอารายธรรมของชาวอารยันไปเผยแพร่ในดินแดนทางภาคใต้ของอินเดีย อันเป็นที่อาศัยของชนเผ่าทมิฬ เป็นอาจารย์ของชาวทมิฬทั้งปวง ฤษีอคัสตยะเมื่อสิ้นชีวิตแล้ว กลายเป็นดวงดาวที่สุกใสในท้องฟ้าทางทิศใต้เรียกว่า ดาวอคัสตยะ หรือดาวแคโนบัส (Canopus) นอกจากนี้ ฤษีอคัสตยะยังมีอำนาจบันดาลให้มรสุมสลายตัว และทำให้ฝนหยุดตก ด้านผลงานการประพันธ์ ฤษีอคัสตยะเป็นผู้แต่งบทสวดบางบทในคัภีร์ฤคเวทและอถรรพเวทและเป็นบุคคลแรกที่แต่งตำราไวยากรณ์ภาษาทมิฬ |
| Other Abstract: | The aim of this thesis is to conduct a study on Agastya, a famous literary figure in the Sanskrit literature, his roles and the popular belief about him. Data and references in the research are gathered from Sanskrit literary works, namely, the gveda, the Atharvaveda, the Mahabharata, the Ramayana and the Puranas. The study reveals that A gastya is a Maharshi, who subdues gods and demons by the merit s of his severe penance. He is held in awe and in respects by gods and the inhabitants of the demoniac world. It is his major role to subjugate the wicked ones for the sake of peace, universal ordinance and righteousness. Agastya is believed to be one of the pioneers who introduced the Aryan civilization to the Tamil people in the South, and for that reason he is revered as the First Teacher of the land. After his death, he became the brillant star in the South the Canopus. Moreover, he is believed to have supernatural power to stop monsoon and rain. As an author, he composes a number of Vedic hymns, In addition, the tradition ascribes him as the first author of the Tamil Grammar. |
