dc.description.abstract	ที่มา: เส้นขนเป็นหนึ่งในโครงสร้างของร่างกายที่มีความซับซ้อนมาก ความรู้เกี่ยวกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเส้นขนยังมีจำกัด มีหลายปัจจัยที่เชื่อว่ามีผลต่อการเจริญเติบโตของเส้นขน ก่อนหน้านี้มีหลายรายงานพบว่าหลังใส่เฝือกพบภาวะ localized acquired hypertrichosis แต่ยังไม่เคยมีการศึกษาถึงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการใส่เฝือก และการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเส้นขนใต้เฝือกที่แน่ชัดมาก่อน วัตถุประสงค์: เพื่อศึกษาการเปลี่ยนแปลงความยาวและความหนาของเส้นขนหลังการใส่เฝือกบริเวณขา ในผู้ป่วยแผนกออร์โธปิดิกส์ วิธีการศึกษา: ผู้ป่วยที่เข้าร่วมการศึกษา ได้แก่ ผู้ป่วยแผนกออร์โธปิดิกส์ที่ได้รับการใส่เฝือกบริเวณขาข้างใดข้างหนึ่ง เป็นเวลาอย่างน้อย 4 สัปดาห์ โดยหลังการตัดเฝือก เก็บตัวอย่างเส้นขนจากบริเวณขาทั้ง 2 ข้าง (ด้านใส่เฝือกและไม่ได้ใส่เฝือก) ประเมินการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเส้นขนโดยการวัดความยาวและความหนาโดย Olympus microscope software และวิเคราะห์การเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสถิติด้วย pair t test ผลการศึกษา: ผู้ป่วยที่ได้รับการใส่เฝือก 14 คนเข้าร่วมการศึกษา เป็นชาย 7 คน และหญิง 7 คน อายุตั้งแต่ 16-82 ปี เส้นขนที่เก็บจากขาด้านที่ใส่เฝือกมีความยาวและความหนามากกว่าด้านที่ไม่ได้ใส่เฝือก อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p<0.001) โดยทั้งความยาวและความหนาที่มากขึ้นไม่สัมพันธ์กับระยะห่างจากบริเวณที่เกิดการบาดเจ็บ ซึ่งให้ผลสอดคล้องกับลักษณะทางคลินิกที่พบว่า ภาวะ Localized hypertrichosis ไม่ได้เกิดขึ้นเฉพาะบริเวณที่เกิดการบาดเจ็บ แต่มักเกิดขึ้นทั่วบริเวณที่อยู่ใต้เฝือก สรุปผล: เส้นขนบริเวณขา ยาวขึ้นและหนาขึ้นหลังการใส่เฝือกอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ และการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเส้นขนเกิดขึ้นทั่วๆ บริเวณที่อยู่ใต้เฝือก เป็นการสนับสนุนว่าการเปลี่ยนแปลงของสภาวะแวดล้อมที่อยู่ใต้เฝือก เป็นการกระตุ้นให้เกิดการเปลี่ยนแปลงวงจรปกติของเส้นขน	en
dc.description.abstractalternative	Background: Hair is one of the most complicate structures in human. A myriad of stimulating factors have been noted to affect hair growth. Localized hypertrichosis following cast application has been recorded, but there is no study evaluating these changes elaborately. Objective: To evaluate changes of hair length and thickness on the legs in fracture patients after cast application. Material and method: Patients with leg injuries and history of cast application of at least 4 weeks’ duration were included in the study. Immediately after cast removal, hair sampling was taken from both legs; cast and control sides. Hair length and thickness of each side were measured by Olympus microscope software and statistical analysis performed for their differences using pair t test. Result: Fourteen patients, seven of whom were male, were included in this study. On the cast side, both hair length and thickness were significantly longer and thicker than the control side (P<0.001). Degrees of hair change did not correlate with the distance from injury site. Conclusion: The highly significant hair growth during cast application and their diffuse pattern may suggest that a whole host of biological changes that strongly affect hair growth must have taken place underneath the cast.	en
