Other Abstract: | To develop the academic administration model of basic education institutions to prepare students for global citizens. Conceptual research framework is based on 5 fields of academic administration which are: 1) curriculum, 2) teaching and learning process 3) supervision of instruction 4) measurement and evaluation and 5) the use of technology in education, integrated with the concept of global citizenship, PDCA management concepts and concept of model development. The research methodology is quantitative research using questionnaires and qualitative in forms of interviewing and observing. The data were collected, then an analysis of questionnaire from 500 basic educational institutions under the Office of Basic Education Commission. The data then were analyzed by content analysis in order to develop an academic administration model of basic education institutions to prepare students for global citizenship. The validity and feasibility of the model were evaluated by school principles and experts. The research concludes that the academic administration model to prepare students for global citizenship is composed of three components: 1) principles and objectives, 2) structure and concept 3) implementation procedure and key success factors. The findings are as follows: (1) Curriculum must focus on the integration of life and its meaning into the 21st century by learning to total development of a human being with a positive change, (2) teaching and learning process: students are learnt through investigation through experience, coupled together with reflection learning, dialogue and collaborative inquiry, (3) Supervision on a regular basis through verification process between school administrators and teachers to reflect the individual student’s achievement, (4) Qualitative measurement and evaluation to assess ability and good ethics with details to describe the development, areas for improvement and preparation for future learning and (5) the using technology in education by using online media as a tool for researching, the use of IT equipment help to create learning and knowledge as well as recording the learning of individual student in order to prepare students who are living with an open mind, willing to listen with compassion, understanding culture and expectations of others, taking advantage of the knowledge to well communicate, interacting and working effectively in a diverse world. |
