dc.description.abstract	หนังสือ ก็องดิดด์ ของวอลแตร์ มีลักษณะหลายประการที่พ้องกับการเล่าเรื่องแบบนิทาน แต่เมื่อพิจารณากลวิธีโดยละเอียดแล้ว จะพบว่าผู้เล่าเรื่องปรากฏตัวอยู่ตลอดเวลาเพื่อพาผู้อ่านจากโลกของนิทานไปสู่ความคิดเชิงปรัชญา ปราสาทของบารอนธุนแดร์-เตน-ทรองค์ อันเป็นสถานที่ซึ่งผู้เล่าใช้เปิดเรื่องเช่นเดียวกับในเทพนิยายหลายๆ เรื่อง ที่จริงคือมายาที่ห่อหุ้ม ความคิด สุทรรศนนิยม ตลอดจน ยศ อำนาจ ศักดิ์ศรี ฐานันดรและความสุขของชนชั้นสูง เมื่อปราสาทพินาศลงเหลือเพียงกองหิน สิ่งต่างๆ เหล่านั้นก็มิอาจตั้งอยู่ได้ สมาชิกของปราสาทแห่งนั้นพากันพบกับความวิบัติ คุณค่าและสิทธิของมนุษย์อันติดมากับชาติกำเนิดล้วนเสื่อมสูญ เปิดทางให้กับเงินซึ่งเป็นอำนาจอย่างใหม่อันเปลี่ยนมือได้ แต่เงินที่จะอำนวยสุขให้แก่ผู้ครอบครองต้องเป็นเงินที่ได้มาจากการทำงาน ซึ่งสามารถขจัดสิ่งเลวร้ายในชีวิตอันได้แก่ความเบื่อ ความชั่ว และความจำเป็น	en
dc.description.abstractalternative	Voltaire’s Candide has many elements of fairy-tale. However, a closer look at the literary devices reveals that the ever-present narrator of the story consistently leads the reader from the world of fairy-tale to the philosophical one. The castle of Baron Thunder-Ten-Tronckh which is the opening setting of the story as in many fairy-tales, is in fact, a representation of aristocratic illusions : optimism, the concept of honour, pride, power, mobility and aristocratic leisure. When the castle falls to the ground, the concepts and the way of life have nothing to sustain them. The characters who live in the castle all meet their tragic ends. Birthright and honour decline and give way to a new, interchangeable power, money. Still, the kind of money which brings about happiness to the owner is money earned by work. This will ward off those evils in life that are boredom, vice and necessity.	en
