Abstract:
Cette recherche de "Corps et espace dans le théâtre de Samuel Beckett" est destinée à analyser ses textes dramatiques en trois dimensions "spatio-corporelles" : corps dans l’espace, espace du corps (corps en tant qu’espace) et corps plongé dans l’espace d’évasion. L’étude de l’évolution de la dramaturgie beckettienne nous permet de constater que l’espace qui génère, au départ, un malaise moral au corps souffrant s’engage à menacer, d’une pièce à l’autre, son physique et ne fait qu’un avec le corps vers la fin de la première période. L’espace, dont le rôle est progressivement atténué, est minimalisé au profit du corps qui devient enfin la seule source de tension, le lieu scénique même, dans la dernière période du théâtre beckettien. En tant qu’espace, le corps est représenté comme un récipient vide de "moi" et réduit, lui aussi, physiquement et psychologiquement, jusqu’à voué finalement au silence et inertie. Dans cette condition d’une souffrance existentielle, les êtres mort-nés beckettiens n’ont qu’à recourir à un état d’un autre corps et d’un autre espace symbolique et métaphorique - un fœtus dans les flancs maternels.
