Abstract:
This descriptive study is about leadership of nursing director towards international nursing service excellence at tertiary hospitals. The Delphi Technique was used. Subjects were 19 experts, including two administrators at tertiary hospitals where are certified by international standards, five hospital quality assurance inspectors, eight nursing directors in tertiary hospitals where are certified by international standards, and four nursing educators of nursing administration. The Delphi Technique consisted of 3 steps. Step 1, Integrate information from review literature to scope the question and interview the experts about leadership of nursing director towards international nursing service excellence at tertiary hospitals. Step 2, interviewed data were analyzed by using content analysis in order to develop the leadership of nursing director rating scales questionnaire. Then, the questionnaire was sent to all experts to rate their opinions. Data were analyzed by using median and interquartile range which was develop a new version of the questionnaire. Step 3, The new questionnaire was sent to previous experts for their confirmation. Data were analyzed again using median and interquartile range to final finding.
The result of this study was presented leadership of nursing director towards international nursing service excellence at tertiary hospitals consisted of 11 domains and 50 items as follow: 1) Idealized Influence 6 items, 2) Internal and external awareness 5 items, 3) knowledge of nursing profession and international standards 4 items, 4) Change Agent 4 items, 5) Think strategically / be a strategic leader 4 items, 6) Emotional Intelligence 4 items, 7) Inspiration Motivation/Team Spirit 4 items, 8) Intellectual Stimulation 5 items, 9) Individualized Consideration 5 items, 10) Create organization quality and safety culture 5 items, and 11) stakeholder focus 4 items.
