Other Abstract:	The purpose of this research was to study and compare the educational efficiency vocational education in government and private schools during 1984-1986 academic years in lower and higher certificate levels, the higher certificate level covered three fields : accountancy, marketing and secretarial. The results were : 1. The institutional cost per head per year of Bangna Commercial College, Rajadamnern Commercial School and Chao Phaya Commerial School were 4,846.58 baht, 3,765.48 baht and 3,646.14 baht respectively. 2. The ratio of the educational efficiency, the educational wastage and the educational effectiveness of Bangna Commercial College in lower certificate level were 0.9967, 0.1371 and 0.8543 respectively, in higher certificate level in accountancy were 0.9989, 0.0391 and 0.9589 respectively, in marketing were 0.9965, 0.0622 and 0.9312 respectively, in secretarial were 0.9988, 0.1000 and 0.8979 respectively. Those of Rajadamern Commercial School in lower certificate level were 0.9480, 0.2031 and 0.7140 respectively, in higher certificate level in accountancy were 0.9971, 0.0325 and 0.9619 respectively, in marketing were 0.9436, 0.4333 and 0.5000 respectively, and in secretarial were 0.9736, 0.3687 and 0.6978 respectively. And those of Chao Phaya Commercial School in lower certificate level were 0.9782, 0.2247 and 0.7231 respectively, in higher certificate level were 0.9782, 0.2247 and 0.7231 respectively, in higher certificate level in accountancy were 0.9950, 0.1382 and 0.8537 respectively and in marketing were 0.9783, 0.2245 and 0.7404 respectively. 3. The ratio of institutional cost per head per year - educational effectiveness of Bangna Commercial College in lower certificate level was 5,672.27 baht, in higher certificate level in accountancy was 5.054.40 baht, in marketing was 5,206.24 baht and in secretarial was 5,402.19 baht. That of Rajadamnern Commercial School in lower certificate level was 5,277.40 baht, in higher certificate level in accountancy was 3,917.99 baht, in marketing was 7,630.27 baht and in secretarial was 5,825.15 baht. And that of Chao Phaya Commercial School in lower certificate level was 5,064.34 baht, in higher certificate level in accountancy was 4,288.96 baht and marketing was 4,939.63 baht. 4. The educational efficiencies in commercial vocational education in lower certificate level of government and private schools were not different (p > .05). The education efficiency in higher certificate level in accountancy of government school was lower than large private school (p < .05) but was not different from medium private school (p > .05). In marketing the educational efficiency of government school was higher than large private school (p < .05). And secretarial the educational efficiency in commercial vocational education of government and private school were not different (p > .05).
