| Abstract: | วิทยานิพนธ์ฉบับนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อรวบรวมและจำแนกแบบเรื่อง (TALE TYPE) ของตำนานประจำถิ่นริมแม่น้ำและชายฝั่งทะเลภาคกลางของไทย รวมถึงวิเคราะห์ลักษณะเด่นของตำนานประจำถิ่นดังกล่าว โดยมีขอบเขตการวิจัยคือตำนานประจำถิ่นที่พบในจังหวัดภาคกลาง 35 จังหวัด ทั้งจากข้อมูลเอกสารและการเก็บข้อมูลภาคสนาม ผลการศึกษาพบว่าแบบเรื่องตำนานประจำถิ่นมี 12 แบบเรื่อง ได้แก่ แบบเรื่องมาทางน้ำ ซึ่งเป็นแบบเรื่องที่พบมากที่สุด กล่าวคือพบถึง 38 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องสามพี่น้อง พบ 19 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องเทวดารักษา พบ 14 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องผ่านทางพบเทพ พบ 12 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องจระเข้เจ้า พบ 12 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องตายในน้ำเป็นสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์แห่งท้องน้ำ พบ 7 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องเหยียบน้ำทะเลจืด พบ 4 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องผู้วิเศษประลองฤทธิ์ พบ 4 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องผู้สยบสัตว์ร้าย พบ 4 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องผู้วิเศษแปลงกายเป็นจระเข้ พบ 3 เรื่อง แบบเรื่องตาม่องล่าย และแบบเรื่องน้ำไม่ท่วมผู้มีบุญซึ่งเป็นแบบเรื่องที่พบน้อยที่สุด พบ 2 เรื่อง นอกจากนั้นยังมีตำนานประจำถิ่นเรื่องเบ็ดเตล็ดอีก 12 เรื่อง โดยตำนานแต่ละแบบเรื่องแสดงความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์กับสายน้ำ ทั้งในด้านประวัติความเป็นมาและอภินิหารของสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์ และมีอนุภาคสำคัญที่เกี่ยวข้องกับน้ำ ลักษณะเด่นของตำนานประจำถิ่นสัมพันธ์กับสภาพภูมิศาสตร์ ภูมินาม และสถานที่สำคัญในท้องถิ่น ในขณะเดียวกันก็สัมพันธ์กับการตั้งถิ่นฐาน สภาพเศรษฐกิจ และการคมนาคม ซึ่งต้องอาศัยแม่น้ำและทะเลเป็นสำคัญ นอกจากนี้ตำนานประจำถิ่นยังสัมพันธ์กับสังคมและวัฒนธรรมของกลุ่มชนหลายชาติพันธุ์ หลายวัฒนธรรมที่อาศัยอยู่ร่วมกันในบริเวณริมแม่น้ำและชายฝั่งทะเลภาคกลาง |
| Other Abstract: | The purposes of this thesis are to collect and classify the tale types of mythical legend of riverine and coastal areas in central Thailand as well as to analyse its characteristics. Limited in 35 provinces in the central part, documents are gathered from both texts and field research. The study reveals that there are 12 tale types. The most popular type, which are 38 stories, is about a sacred object or person coming from water. There are 19 stories about a group of sacred objects or people coming from water together, 14 stories about shipwrecked people saved by water spirit, 12 stories about a man who met water spirit on the way, 12 stories about sacred crocodiles, 7 stories about a drown person becoming water spirit, 4 stories about salty water changed to fresh, 4 stories about a contest in magic, 4 stories about a hero who killed a dragon or crocodile, 3 stories about a man transformed to crocodile. And the rarely found types, which are 2 stories each, are about an unsuccessful marriage and about a sacred place or man saved from flood. There are 12 unclassified stories, too. All types show that sacred spirits originated from water and expressed their miracles in water. Besides, there are important motifs about water. The characteristics of the mythical legend relate to landscapes, place names and significant local places. They also relate to the settlement, economic affairs and communication depending on rivers and seas. Moreover, The characteristics relate to society and culture of riverine and coastal areas in the central part, which consist of people from many ethnic and cultural groups. |
